You better work...

Sunday Evening, which has become our usual and scheduled meeting, we all met with snacks and a drive for work. We started going over the answers from our questionnaire to understand the exact needs, and then to get started on out to-do list:

  • Define the Need

  • Define the Persona

  • Define the Market

  • Market Research

When starting to go over the answers we have come the conclusions that most of the people go out to lunch and not bring food from home with them, most people are picky when it comes to the food they like and want to eat – and most of them find themselves under social pressure to eat something they don't exactly want, meaning they compromise in order to not be left alone to eat. Lunch break takes approximately one hour.

When we asked how lunch takes place in the company, most of the people said that they like to eat in groups – some prefer to eat with the computer in their office and the interesting fact is that no one seemed to like going out to lunch in a pair, and our assumption about this is that we must find a way to make people stop compromising on their food but in the same time find a group to eat with – people to have lunch with.

Defining the need – Making people not compromise on their food, but eat with friends.

Defining the Persona:

Our Persona is a Female, Age 30, Married + 1 (This is based on the Questionnaire summary – and the average). She works in a high tech – Company were the majority of her co-workers are male, working long hours and when coming home taking care of the child, she does not find time to make food at home. She wants to eat healthy, and lose weight but also not eat alone and be socially neglected. Another problem that she faces is she is the only one that wants to eat healthy and feels like no one cares about her needs.

Market Research:

There are a lot of applications that focus on the lunch break at work. Most of them are not available in Israel, and are based on locations in the states or Europe. Our Focus is on not compromising on what you want to eat, than again make contacts and not find yourself eating all alone. This Focus has another effect on the users, they get to make new friendships with co-workers they never thought of going out to lunch with as the mutual base – is what they want to eat without compromising. Most of the applications we found that focus on networking and making social relationships for example lunch-mix which focuses on Meeting people nearby who are looking to have lunch with you, for Networking, Dating, or just to make new friends. Then there were applications that focus on the food selection. Lunch Rolette focuses on both fields – food selection and finding people to eat lunch within the company - it pairs people up into couples for eating lunch and it works when you contact the web-based platform that is usually through the company. This is not an application – it works though e-mails and appointments within the company, also important to say the company buys the service, it is not based on the user, it is based on the company, another thing is is that it pairs people up in couples – what we discovered that people tend to do less off, go out in couples.
